Advanced Audio CM47fet
The Advanced Audio CM47 fet presents a remarkably full, very clean and well-defined sound that is perfectly suited to recording close vocals or instruments in the studio, as well as to live and dialogue applications.
The CM47 fet is a large-diaphragm cardiod/omni-only condenser microphone based on the famous U47 fet design. It features a capsule with dual 5-micron diaphragms and a Class A amplifier coupled into a transformer-balanced output. It also features a de-emphasis circuit that reduces sibilance.

The CM47fet is really great at capturing vocals, even in a not so good recording environment. The vocal sound it captures is detailed and it’s neither muddy nor harsh. It just sits well in the mix. It also has great headroom. It kind of produces a “vintage” sound. It has a very clean sound, but full and more warm that thin, but the mic is not boomy at all, it has a well-defined sound. It almost doesn’t need any EQ. It’s a kind of “record and forget” mic. With this mic you will save a lot of time on the mixing desk. It’s also capable of handling really loud audio sources, even kick drum and toms. So putting in front of a speaker/amp is a breeze and we can have our amp really loud without distorting the mic. It’s also great as voice-over as well as in front of drums set. CM47fet is the best mic for the money! It gives a vintage feel and an almost “finished” sound requiring no EQ. Support is 5 stars! Hello AA, I am a Germany-based Musican/Music Producer (for example, Amon Düül II is one band I play with). For years I’m watching your company and read about your mics, wanting to buy one for long time… Now I finally did that, and bought my first CM47-Fet through your European department. I decided to buy the mic last Tuesday, ordered it last Wednesday, and it arrived on Friday at noon. On the weekend we tested the mic in various situations during a real live recording session: As a front-of-kit mic (comparing to an EV RE20, a Neumann U87 and a Brauner Phantom), as a room mic on drum recording (comparing to U87, Brauner Phantom, M149 and United- Minorities “Greenie”), and on female lead vocals (comparing to all the above listed minus the RE20 but plus a SE 2200a). In all situations your product worked perfectly well and the results are close to perfect – especially on the singers voice it was by far the best one, so the lead vocals of this record will be recorded with the CM47. “Hi Dave, I purchased your CM47fet and CM87. 2 days ago i got to compare your 47fet with the original Neumann fet 47 which we used to record both acoustic guitar and mandolin. Doing the blind test with 3 independant engineers we all concluded that your mic sounded warmer and nicer.(ps) they were recorded in a russ berger room.
